WAREZ: Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106

From the Orange Broadband CD given to me by Roy, comes an old installation/setup for Internet Explorer 6 (specifically 6.0.2800.1106). Sadly, much to my dissapointment this is the run-of-the-mill version of IE6 with no Orange flavourings, unlike the previous Internet Explorer I uploaded by SoldOut. Not even the homepage is set, nor are there any bookmarks. 😦
Although strangly enough it comes with a branding cabinet file (BRANDING.CAB)… strange.

Anyway, this is great if you’re looking for a basic IE6 set-up. Which surprisingly is sitll used by many today. (Ps. I think this also includes Scripting & Outlook Express 6.)

Also I need to mention, this setup requires an internet connection – as its more of a downloader.

This is a ‘bundle’ installation from Microsoft but branded by SoldOut software, it offers the following:

• Internet Explorer 5.00.3103.1000IC – Branded by SoldOut Software
• Outlook Express 5.50.4807.1700 – Branded by SoldOut Software
• Scripting Support

Of course, all of these applications are now terribly out-of-date, but they all still work. When installing it on Windows 2000 it did scream at me – talking about ‘unindentfiable’ file types or something like that, and that I needed to reinstall Service Pack 4 – not sure what that was about, but still seems a-ok!

WAREZ: NTL/BroadJump Broadband Checker

This is definitely a strange one. Found on the NTL broadband promo disc, is this little stand-alone application that retrieves system information. Although not as useful as the one built into Windows or other third-party versions (SIW), it does still work. I think it was to tell the not so computer literate people if they could have broadband or not. Is it interesting, sort of – but its pretty useless.

WAREZ: AOL 7.0 Revision 4114.176

Okay, another pretty useless prog’ available  today. I have alot of different versions of AOL (the discs are like a plague) and will most likely be posting all of them up for download.

Im not overly sure why you would want to use AOL 7.0… as its 10 years old now. It installed fine on Win2K, and detected my internet connection fine. But as any former AOL user knows, you have to sign-in to get any access to the internet; and no matter what I tried (I made a few AOL accounts) it just wouldn’t sign me in. So yeh this prog’ is about as useful as an appendix.

Maybe someone could ‘hack’ it to get the internet access… but why would you do that? It most likely won’t show 80% of todays websites; as has been demonstrated with the installation of IE6. Anyway, none the less here it is – for your pleasure.

(as a side note, the only reasonable thing I got from this program was taking the sound files; and that was about it)

Okay now thats done. My first Warez i have to give to you is a little nostalgic, a bit old, a bit erm… useless. I give to you….. INTERNET EXPLORER 6.0… tada.

Yes I know nothing super, but hey its a start. To be anal the version for download on this page is:

Well that is the one I installed using this package anyway. I got this exact copy from a Sky Broadband OEM CD… for some reason it was on there with IE7 (yeh dont ask me either). A quick look at the directories for the installation package shows me that there could be compatibility for all OS’ Win95 and up! (inc. NT4)

But you’ll have to install and let me know if else. This program is a bit ‘useless’ really – I mean it won’t even display what has to be the most popular site of this current moment; Facebook. So yeh its pretty worthless; but hey who knows in 5000 years time when aliens come, they may need Explorer 6.0.2800.11…. yeh you get the point.
